Overgrown acreage, old pasture and wooded lots opened back up so you can see what you bought and put it to use. Brush gets mulched in place, your good trees stay, and there is no burn pile left behind.
Land clearing is the first step on most property jobs, and how it gets done decides what the next step costs. Clear it right and the pad, the driveway and the pasture all go easier. Leave a mess of burn piles, ruts and root balls and somebody has to pay to fix that before any real work starts.
We clear with the end use in mind. A homesite needs different work than a hunting tract, and a pasture needs different work than a commercial lot. Tell us what the land is for and we will clear to that, not just knock everything down.
Most of our clearing gets done with a forestry mulcher that grinds brush and small trees into a layer that stays on the ground. There is nothing to burn, nothing to pile, and the ground stays covered instead of getting scraped bare and washing out. On north Alabama slopes, keeping that cover matters.
Where a building or a road is going, the ground has to be stripped so it will hold weight. Anything that has to leave the property, we can haul off in our own dump trucks. If you want the whole job start to finish, home site prep covers it. If you only want the brush gone and the trees kept, forestry mulching is likely the better fit.
We quote every job on its own. These make the biggest difference.
Open woods with scattered brush go quickly. A privet or pine thicket you cannot walk through takes real machine time.
Bigger trees take longer, and so does careful work around the ones you want to save.
Steep ground and rock near the surface slow every machine down, and both are common in north Alabama.
Narrow gates, soft crossings and long runs from the road add time. Tell us what the way in looks like.
It depends on how thick the growth is, tree size, slope, rock and access. We do not publish a flat rate because two tracts of the same size can be very different jobs. Send photos and a map pin to (256) 735-3214 and you will get a straight number for your land.
No. Debris gets mulched in place, so there are no burn piles to deal with, watch or get permission for. If material has to leave the site, we can haul it off.
Yes. Mark the trees you want with ribbon or flagging, or walk the property with us. We work around them.
Forestry mulching is one way to clear. It grinds brush and small trees in place and leaves the good timber standing. Land clearing is the bigger job, and it can include mulching plus stripping ground for a building, a road or a pad.
Sometimes. It depends on the town, the county, how much ground gets disturbed and whether you are near a lake or stream. Alabama's construction stormwater permit starts at one acre of land disturbance in many cases. We flag what we know applies when we quote, and your town page has the local picture.
Suttles & Sons clears land across north Alabama from our home base in Cullman, including the Huntsville and Decatur areas, Marshall County and the north Birmingham suburbs. Pick your town under service areas for the ground and permit picture where you are, or call (256) 735-3214 for a free estimate.
Send a few photos, a map pin and what you want the land to do. Kalob will tell you what it takes and how many days it should run before anyone unloads a machine.
